How To Live a Happier Life by Sam Hill
Let’s start by ending our constant search for happiness in external things. You will not find true happiness in a new handbag, a pair of shoes, or a new relationship. Happiness starts with you, happiness is an inside job.
FOCUS ON THE PRESENT
Learn from your past, part with it & don’t play victim. If you constantly think about problems from the past or use these problems as excuses, you will never be truly happy. While attempting to predict the future can be addictive, don't make a habit of worrying too much about it. It’s awesome to be ambitious and set goals, but don’t stress about it and let it ruin your present. Be grateful for what you have while working towards what you want. Be ambitious, set your goals and work towards them peacefully. Whenever you find yourself dwelling in the past or stressing about the future, bring yourself back and focus on your breath in the present.
COMPARISON IS THE THIEF OF JOY
Stop comparing yourself to others, we are all different and should be happy in our own skin. It would be a pretty boring world if we were all the same.
Be 100% authentically yourself and love yourself! Stop worrying about what others think of you, it’s not their life, it’s yours. If you spend your life hiding your real self and trying to be like others you don’t know what you could miss out on, or what amazing souls might slip through your fingers because you were too busy hiding who you really are. Be true to yourself always and learn to say no. If you don’t want to do something just say no, it is ok to say no it doesn’t make you a bad person.
Don’t be afraid to end toxic relationships, whether it be with a partner or a friend. If you don’t feel good around this person or you feel you can’t be yourself around them, it might be time to end it. It’s okay to end something that is no longer making you feel good or helping you grow. Don’t let toxic people hold you back, this is your life and you deserve to live it the way you want.
GOSSIP IS TOXIC
Stop gossiping. I can’t stress this enough, gossip is extremely toxic and will only drag you down to a lower vibration and make you feel crappy. When you gossip, you are letting your ego take over, the ego feeds off this kind of negativity. Leave your ego behind and be happy for others. If you are surrounded by people that constantly gossip, ask them to stop and if they don’t maybe it’s time to think about whether you really need these kind of people in your life.
Get rid of clutter! Look around your house, how much of the stuff in our house do you actually use? Does it make you feel good? A cluttered house only creates a cluttered mind. Go through your home one room at a time, pick each item up and ask yourself if it has a purpose, or if it brings you any real joy, if it doesn’t it’s time to say good bye and give it to charity.
PROGRAM YOUR MIND FOR SUCCESS
Your thoughts ultimately create your reality. If you are constantly thinking unhappy thoughts and think that bad things always happen to you, they will. The universe gives you exactly what you think it does. So be happy, know that the universe is on your side and that you have the power to create a life that lights your soul up.
PASSION IS KEY
Make time for things you love and are passionate about! We all make excuses about not having time to do things that we want to, I am guilty of this but the truth is we can make time, if we have time for television or social media we have time for the things we love.
Get out of your own way, express gratitude for yourself and the people you love and spread happiness and love wherever you are!
